One in a series of simple yet effective games, designed by primary school teacher Christine Towndrow. This game helps students learn about letter sound and animals at the same time.
Sound Aloud is a well stocked zoo with ’h’ for hippo, ’k’ for kangeroo, ’fl-’ for flamingo and ’-ck’ for peacock. The gameboard is a double-sided A3 size laminated card, with a game covering the 26 letters of the alphabet printed on one side, and a game covering a mixture of initial and final blends on the other. As the players move round the board they land on squares containing a letter or blend. They say the sound, name the animal that includes that letter or blend, and mark the animal with a counter. The first player to place all their counters is the winner.
